Beautification Commission Meeting

Call to order:
Chair Sirois called the meeting of the Beautification Commission to order at 5:30 p.m.
Acceptance of minutes of February 7, 2013
Mary Mourey made a motion to accept the minutes of the February 7, 2013 meeting.
Seconded by Betty Russell. Approved.
Opportunity for citizens to speak.
None at this time.
Financial Report:
Mary Mourey reported there is $6461.09 in the General Budget. Remembrance Fund $520.96.
Communications:
Chair Sirois received the following communication:
Chair's report
Chair Sirois reported that she received letters from Mayor Leclerc re-appointing Betty Russell and Lee Ann Manning to the Beautification Commission.
Concerns of the Commission
- Main Street (DeRosa Cleaners) concern with sidewalk, brick pavers, driveway
- Long Hill Drive curbing
Tree Warden's Report
Tim Bockus reported on the various activity the past month.
Old Business:
Information was sent to Dr Orszulak, Prinicipal, Norris School with the information regarding the Arbor Day Ceremony which will take place on April 26th at 9:15. Information was also sent to the music teacher, Robin Russoto and to the Director of Fine and Performing Arts, Laura White.
New Business
It was reported that the plants have been ordered. Discussion was held on future planting sites.
Tim Bockus stated that the flower pots on Main Street are being repainted.
Discussion was held on where to plant Memorial Trees when money is collected. One area was along the driveway at Veteran’s Memorial Clubhouse. Tim Bockus suggested he will evaluate areas in the parks to find a place to cluster the trees. A press release will be done to request people donate to the Beautification Remembrance Fund once the planting area is agreed upon.
Other Business
April 27, 2013 – Town-wide Clean Up Day in East Hartford
June 1 – Clean-up of Hockanum Linear Park (behind Town Hall)
Payment of Bills:
Theresa Godreau $ 75.00
Arbor Day Foundation $15.00
Dolores Kehoe made a motion to pay the bills as submitted. Seconded by Lee Ann Manning. Approved.
Adjournment:
There being no further business, Pat Byrnes made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 6:17 p.m. Seconded by Betty Russell. Approved.
The next meeting of the Commission will be on April 4, 2013 in Building Department Conference Room at 5:30 p.m.
